 How To Write the Ideal Resume


When you are going for your interview, your potential employer has no idea of who you really are.

Sometimes, you might have replied directly to an advertisement and others maybe you got a lead from a headhunter or an employment agency. An nowadays, more and more people use job sites on the internet to find potential employment.

Given those situations, the truth is that the first impression employers have of you is your resume. Depending on how many people are applying for that particular position, you might get all of 20 to 30 seconds to make an impact with your resume and cover letter.


Your resume must say almost everything about you that is pertinent to getting that job. Its important that you should always start with pertinent information such as your name and contact information.  Surprisingly enough, some people leave these importatn details off their resumes and because of that they never get called back or emailed because the employer has no idea who they are or how to contact them.

Don't let that happen to you.

After the contact information, the next most important information is the is the career objective. This is simply a sentence staing why you want this job in particular. By putting down a strongly worded goal and not a general one, the employer will see that you have  a direction in life and why you want to work for the company.

The next most important section should include relevant skills and knowledge you have gained in your current and previous jobs as well as highlighting your major accomplishments. By putting in detail the things you have done in that position and the experience gained from it, the employer can see the potential you have for that position.

After that, the resume should show your educational background.  Some companies prefer someone with a degree in a certain field, a licensed professional to do the job or someone who possesses a master’s degree.  By listing your credentials, you can the employerwhat you have accomplished in education and training.


The last section should provide details about your life such as hobbies, interests and character references.  Employers look at potential applicants who not only have the qualifications for the job but also those who also those who are well rounded. Being active in a certain organization and be seen as a leader in a group shows off your social skills with others. Character references do the same and give people an idea how one performed working with that person.

These are the requirements of resumes in general but its good to remember that there is no ideal resume. It depends on the job. It is simply one the important steps you must pass before being called for that first interview.
